Introducing our new chair

It’s with mixed emotions to announce that Pete Byrne will be stepping down as District Chair as of 20th July 2023 due to him being offered the District Commissioner role in Basingstoke West.
We’d like to thank Pete for all his work leading the District Trustee Board, and his time spent at 11th Basingstoke and 1st Basingstoke in programme roles, but we’re super excited for him to take on this new challenge in Basingstoke West and continue working together to bring the two districts closer together and will continue supporting 1st Basingstoke as an Occasional Helper.
We however excited to announce our new District Chair, Josh Hensman.
Josh brings a wealth of both governance and Scouting experience to the role. Josh has previously held the District Commissioner role within Basingstoke West so understands the operational side of Scouting and from a governance side has been involved as a trustee for both Basingstoke West and Hampshire County Scouts. Alongside Scouting Josh leads St John Ambulance across Hampshire & the Isle of Wight as District Manager and is a trustee of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation.
We are really looking forward to working with Josh and would like to extend a big welcome to the team.
